Loans for students in financial need
The Studentenwerk Stuttgart offers interest-free loans to students in financial need. Due to limited resources these can only be provided to students studying at the educational institutions belonging to the Studentenwerk Stuttgart. They are intended exclusively to cover costs associated with studying. The person taking out the loan agrees to use the loan only for these purposes. A loan cannot be granted to repay outstanding hostel rent.
The maximum size of a loan is €1,500. Repayment of the loan is determined by contract. Repayment must begin immediately when the student's course of study is completed or they transfer to a different place of study. A fee of 2.5% of the total loan is charged to cover administrative costs, which is charged upon payment of the loan.
Guarantors
For a loan of over €260.00, a guarantor must be named who will state that they are prepared to offer absolute guaranty of the loan. Corresponding evidence of permanent and on-going employment and evidence of earnings are required. The guarantor is obliged to present their personal finances in an accurate manner. For foreign citizens, a residence permit must be presented.
