The legal situation
On May 1st 2002, the Disability Equality Act (BGG) came into force in Germany. The main aim of this act is to ensure access for disabled people. For the first time freedom of access was guaranteed not just to buildings but also to IT, The required standards must be put in place by 31.12.2005, and are set out in the Barrierefreie Informationstechnik-Verordnung (Regulation on the Creation of Barrier-Free Information Technology -BITV).

All navigation points and pages are accessible via the hierarchical, text based menu system. All have descriptive names and the menus can be adapted in size by the user, ensuring ease of readability and usability. The site has been optimised for loading, so that even a slow internet connection will not be a barrier to access.
