BAföG (Financial Support) Application

1. E-mail is not considered a written request

In some cases the law requires for documents (Application for BAföG support, Objection etc.) to be submitted in writing. Basically, these type of documents may be sent electronically. However, a qualified electronic signature must be attached in accordance with the signature law. A legally effective declaration of intent therefore can't be submitted by e-mail in these cases.
Due to technical and organisational reasons, the Studentenwerk Stuttgart is not able to verify the authenticity and validity of electronic signatures at this time. Documents that require a signature, can not be submitted electronically because of that. Please use the conventional, written way (Postal Mail, Fax) to send in these documents. Please pay regard to any dates, deadlines and other regulations.

Also remember to send the written application at least three days before the end of the month, since postal mail may take up to three days to be delivered.
